Cleaning Your Stove

Caution:

  • Never wash oven elements or immerse in water.

  • Do not spill any oven cleaner on to paintwork or any metal trims on your stove.

  • Do not use abrasive cleaners on any service.

    Control Panel

Only use clean sudsy water to wipe over the Control Panel area with a damp cloth. Most stoves have removable control knobs that make cleaning this area easier. Note, do not let any water go into the cavity where the control knob sits. Do not use abrasive cleaners on this area. These can cause the writing to be rubbed off making the panel unreadable.

Glass doors, metal trims and handles

Only use clean sudsy water to wipe over these areas. When dry wipe glass areas with a paper towel to make it shine. Do not use harsh cleaners on any metal areas.

    Interior of the Oven.

Ideally, wipe out the interior of the oven while still warm with a damp sudsy cloth after every use. Realistically, who has the time to do this after every use!

Use a good oven cleaner from your supermarket (they generally come in an aerosol) . You can use these cleaners while the oven is still warm (can leave the product for a shorter time if the oven is warm) or use the oven cleaner in a cold oven. We have found that the longer the oven cleaner is left to set, the better the oven cleaner seems to ‘get in’ and dissolve the grime. Read the manufacturers instructions carefully before use. Ensure the oven cleaner does not come in contact with any polished metal trims, shiny aluminium alloy or stainless steel trims or painted surfaces. The use of these cleaners will cause discolouration, staining and scratching of the metals.

After cleaning with the oven cleaner, wipe out the interior of the oven again with a damp sudsy cloth. Rinse and dry the interior well.

Remove all removable parts from inside the oven before using the oven cleaner. Racks and trays can all be cleaned with warm sudsy water in the kitchen sink.

You will also find that on the majority of ovens, the oven door is easily removed to make cleaning easier.

Tip: The more often your oven is cleaned the longer life you will get from it as the dirt inside the oven corrodes the metal areas making it more susceptible to rust.
